Thanks all for your help. Just to update. Charged the old battery, reinstalled it and still nothing. It just wasn't getting enough juice. So decided to change the spark plug, since this was going to be part of my ready for spring maintenance anyway. Still wouldn't start. So finally broke down and went and bought a new battery (out the door for only $40, quite to my pleasure), installed it and tried to start it but it just sounded like it was choking! :-) So after staring at the bike for a few minutes, I realized that even though I was out there sweating, my little Suzi may not be! So went inside and checked the temperature to find it was only a whopping 30F outside. Duh! So put her back together, waited until the next day and for the temp to warm to 50F and she started right up. So I am back on the road again, thanks all of you for your help!
Now just need to tackle the dreaded oil leak...
